Delonis Center: Feeding the Homeless

The Delonis Center at 312 West Huron, Ann Arbor, between 1st and 3rd Streets is a shelter for the homeless. The Knights of Columbus from Old St. Patrick Parish coordinates volunteers from the parish to help prepare and/or serve the dinner meal at the Center, the third Saturday of every other month.

Volunteers can help prepare the food from Noon to 2:30 pm and/or serve the food from 2:30 to 5:00 pm. Cleanup is part of the work.

Volunteers must notify Gene Wierzgac, 734-973-1790, two weeks prior to the work date.

Parking is permitted on-site. You can park behind the shelter. Additionally, you can park in designated public parking - at a public lot, at a meter, in the neighborhoods nearby. Please do not park in the lot that is reserved for staff and guests. Volunteers can receive up to 2 hours free parking in the public lot at Huron and First Street. Validate your parking stub at the front desk of the Center.

Please wear kitchen-appropriate clothing, no sleeveless shirts or tank tops, and sensible non-slip shoes with closed toes (no open-toed shoes or sandals). Please dress modestly (no short-shorts or midriff-bearing shirts). Please bring a hat, bandana or scarf to cover your hair - no matter what length it is. Health Department regulations require that hair longer than shoulder length must be tied back before putting on your hat/head covering.

Spend an enjoyable Saturday afternoon helping your community for the love of Jesus Christ. May we abound in works of faith, hope and love in your service Lord.
