July 2011: A new Fraternal Year

Post date: Jul 10, 2011 6:32:40 PM

Brother Knights and families, I want to thank you for being patient with and supportive of your Grand Knight this first of my two Fraternal Years serving this Council as Grand Knight. In some ways, this year really has flown by when I think back at all we have accomplished together. As you already know, our Council has grown in membership from last year and, we have also sponsored the very first Squire's Circle here at Historic Old St. Patrick Parish.

I would like to welcome our newest First Degree Knight, Randy Ankenbauer who attended his First degree in June. If you know of someone who is interested in the Knights, please be sure to introduce them to either me or to our Membership Director Larry Carzon. With summer in full swing now, we started up our series of Beads & Brews, Fraternal Rosary and Bonfire sessions on select Friday evenings of each month until the snow flies (and maybe after? Brrrrrr). Remember that you need not be a Knight of Columbus to attend these outdoor prayer and fellowship sessions. So, if you have a friend who is not yet a Knight, please invite him to join us and refer to the calendar page to check for the dates and times. We had nineteen (19) men in attendance for the June session and we have another one coming up on July 29th.

In closing, I am proud to announce that the Knight of the Month for June 2011 is: our very own Father Gerald Gawronski. Many people forget that Father Gerald is also a Knight and, a Fourth Degree Sir Knight at that. Father means so much to us here at OSP and, as I presented a certificate to him for being our Knight of the Month, I told him that we love him very much. I also pledged this Council's continued support for him as well as all Priests who serve Mother Church. Our Family for the Month of June 2011 is the Hooker Family. Bruce and Natalie truly are good examples for all young Catholic Couples to follow. The Hookers are very active in parish life and support Father Gerald and the Parish family by serving as catechists and by working with the Youth Group. At last Month's meeting, Our Insurance representative Michael Irwin was the winner of the book from the Grand Knight's book of the Month Guild. The book selection was titled "We Worship, a Guide to the Catholic Mass", written by Father Lukefahr, C.M.

I look forward to giving another book away this month at the General Meeting. I hope to see you there.

God Love You,

SK Frank Finch
