Youth Essay Contest: 2012

“What Does it Mean to Be a Patriot?”
This is the topic for this year's Michigan State Council Knights of Columbus - Essay Contest. Essays will be accepted from youth in the following age/grade level groups:
- Level #1- Grades 6-7-8,
- Level #2- Grades 9-10-11-12
Submissions must also successfully meet the following guidelines:
- Essays must reflect the theme "What Does it Mean to Be a Patriot?"
- Essays must be submitted no later than Wednesday, March 14, 2012.
- Essays must be the original work of the submitter.
- Essays must be between 300 and 600 words.
- Submitters name should appear only on the Entry Form (see below) which should be attached to /sent with the submission.
- All entries become the property of the Knights of Columbus and will not be returned.
- Essays may be submitted either electronically or typed on 8 1/2” x 11” paper, single-sided, double-spaced, with 1” margins.
Each essay will be judged by a panel of three with the highest scoring from each level being advanced to the State Youth Director for judging in the Michigan K of C Essay Contest. The council winner at each level will be awarded a $50 gift certificate to Our Lady of Grace Bookstore in Ann Arbor.
Submissions must include the Entry Form, and can be sent as an attachment to Essay.Contest@ospknights.com or dropped off in an envelop at the parish office. Please label envelopes or email submissions as "KofC Essay Contest Entry"
