The family of the year for the 2010-2011 Fraternal year is the Porter family.
Michael and Bernadette Porter were instrumental in the process of chartering our Columbian Squires Circle for the Council and the parish. Specifically, they worked together to formulate and present a plan of action to implement not only the charter Circle, but the incorporation of a faith formation program for young Catholic men as part of the Circle activities. The entire Porter family is very active in parish life and in faith formation as well as assisting Father Gerald with special activities at the parish.
The Porters are very involved in Miles Christi and in addition, the Porter daughters are contemplating consecrated vocations in the order. Dominic Porter serves at the Altar during Mass and is a founding member of the historic John Paul II Squires Circle #5507.
The Porters exemplify the meaning of living a Catholic life as individuals and as a family. Their love for our Lord, Mother Mary, Holy Mother Church as well as their fellow man serve as an inspirational example for all of us to follow.
